Queensland Country Bank customers, Abbey Walters and Corhan Remfrey have become the first recipients of the Regional First Home Buyer Guarantee (RFHBG).
Under the RFHBG, the government guarantees up to 15 percent of their deposit, meaning eligible regional Queenslanders, such as Abbey and Corhan, can purchase their first home with a deposit of as little as 5 percent and avoid paying lenders’ mortgage insurance. The government has made 10,000 places available to an approved panel of organisations, of which Queensland Country Bank is one.
As a member-owned organisation, the bank is committed to supporting members in regional communities of Queensland to achieve long-term financial security by helping them reach their financial goals, such as purchasing their own home.
Abbey and Corhan worked immensely hard over the last few years to be able to tick purchasing their first home off their bucket list, and Queensland Country Bank stepped in to support their dream.
“From the commencement of our application process, Queensland Country Bank jumped hurdles for us to get us to where we wanted to be, to gain our first home,” they said.
